To ensure that the figure can be understood in both formats, authors should add alternative wording (e.g., “the red (dark gray) bars represent”) as needed. APA can place supplemental materials online, available via the published article in the APA PsycArticles® database. Please see Supplementing Your Article With Online Material for more details. If you would like to include code in the text of your published manuscript, please submit a separate file with your code exactly as you want it to appear, using Courier New font with a type size of 8 points. We will make an image of each segment of code in your article that exceeds 40 characters in length. (Shorter snippets of code that appear in text will be typeset in Courier New and run in with the rest of the text.) If an appendix contains a mix of code and explanatory text, please submit a file that contains the entire appendix, with the code keyed in 8-point Courier New.
After this, participants were fitted with the portable high-density EEG system and were sent home, where they continued with their habitual routine. Shortly before bedtime, the experimenters visited the participants at home to check and, if needed, correct the impedances of the electrodes and start the recording (Fig. 1). Participants also underwent an implicit association task, but this task was irrelevant to the present study. One week before the experiment, participants were instructed to maintain a regular sleep–wake rhythm. They were given an actigraph to objectively monitor their sleep–wake rhythm. During this week, participants completed sleep and consumption diaries to ensure adherence to the study protocol.
The Journal of Neuroscience is a renowned publication that plays a crucial role in disseminating cutting-edge research on the brain and nervous system. As one of the top neuroscience journals in the world, it serves as a platform for scientists to share their discoveries and contribute to the collective knowledge of the field.
These disparities may arise from the substantial UKB sample, which may involve the selection criteria. Notably, despite the observed demographic disparities, our study demonstrates that this largest-scale food-liking dataset can effectively unveil robust and reliable food-liking subtypes. Fourth, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids76,77, along with tryptophan85, constitute key components in serotonin synthesis. Considering the pivotal role of serotonin in mood regulation and its substantial impact on overall mental health, future research should incorporate these aspects for a more comprehensive understanding. Finally, we used simplified measures to assess mental health factors, including well-being. Though brief measures are pragmatic for large-scale studies and have demonstrated reliability and validity in previous research86,87,88, validation of our findings employing well-designed scales is needed in further investigations.
Finally, prosocial preferences were measured on the day before the sleep EEG measurements took place. This ensured that—should the EEG recording lead to a deteriorated sleep efficiency—this would not influence the behavior in the PGG. As it turned out, the objective sleep efficiency (as measured by actigraphy) on the nights before the EEG measurement was not significantly different from the sleep efficiency on the EEG night (92.1% vs 93.2%).
Allow margins of 1.5 inches (3.5 cm) on top, bottom, and left side as well as 2 inches (5 cm) on the right side. With apologies for leaving out your favorite innovative approach, I’ll stop here. These are but a few examples of the remarkable intellectual resources and technical advances currently available to neuroscientists in the year 2021. Some of these amazing techniques may well be likened to the “brick cell phones” introduced around the time that The Journal of Neuroscience was fledged in 1981. This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium provided that the original work is properly attributed. All observed associations in these three path models were in the expected direction, with most paths being significant after FDR correction.
One of the key reasons why the Journal of Neuroscience is so highly regarded is its rigorous peer review process. Before a study is published, it undergoes scrutiny by experts in the field who evaluate its methodology, results, and conclusions. This ensures that only high-quality, credible research makes it into the journal, maintaining its reputation as a reliable source of information.
Another important aspect of the Journal of Neuroscience is the variety of topics it covers. From molecular and cellular neuroscience to systems and cognitive neuroscience, the journal encompasses a wide range of subfields within the discipline. This diversity allows researchers with different interests and expertise to find relevant studies and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in their area of focus.
Moreover, the Journal of Neuroscience plays a vital role in fostering collaboration and innovation within the scientific community. By sharing new findings and ideas, researchers can build on each other’s work and push the boundaries of our understanding of the brain. This collaborative spirit is essential for advancing the field of neuroscience and ultimately improving human health and well-being.
In conclusion, the Journal of Neuroscience is an invaluable resource for neuroscientists and researchers around the world. Through its rigorous peer review process, comprehensive coverage of topics, and promotion of collaboration, the journal continues to drive progress in the field and shape the future of neuroscience research.
