There were insufficient data to pool results for SSRIs compared with placebo so these were presented as a narrative description. Two review authors independently extracted data using a data extraction form. The extraction form was piloted before use and in the case of discrepancy, we consulted a third review author. Overall, the quality of the evidence was low due to a small number of people in the studies, and problems with how the studies were undertaken and reported.
