Hold the top edge of the rake flush with the 2’4 rafter. Rout the plywood from the rough opening with a ball-bearing here piloted flush-cutting bit. Fasten a 2’4 mounting plate to the chord on each gable-end truss.
Use 15/8 inch screws to fasten the plywood siding at the ends of the walls. Fasten each stud with two 3 inch long decking screws driven through the top and bottom wall plates. Put the gusset plate flush with the outer edge of the rafter and bottom edge of the chord; secure it with 1.5 inch long roofing nails. Keep the plywood flush with the outer edges of the floor frame, and align all end-butt joints over the center of a floor joist. Put the floor joists down on top of the mudsills, spaced 16 inches on center.
These sheets usually come in standard 96″ x 48″ size, you’ll need about 160SF to cover the entire roof area. Insert 2 1/2″ nails into the purlins at about every 10″ to lock the plywood sheets in place. Cut four 2’4’s to 10′ long for the top and bottom plate. Cut two 2’4’s to 9′ 5″ long for the top double plate. Cut twenty six 2’4’s to 7′ 6′ long for the wall studs.
Finally, install the seven 2’6 floor joists at 16″ O.C., and 12″ O.C. Assemble the back wall for the storage shed from 2’4 lumber. Align the edges flush and make sure the corners are square. Fit the wall frames to the shed floor, as shown in the diagram.

The top notches to fit the rafters are about 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. The next step is to add blockings and top studs to stabilize the roof structure. Attach the two set of cross bracing at midpoint of the end truss bays. The first step is cut nine 2’6 lumbers to 9′-9″ length, and two 2’6 lumbers to 10′-0″. Cut 2’4 blocking to size and install between rafters using 3 1/2in. Frame the top wall frame as shown on the drawing above. Hold the soffit vent against the underside of the overhanging eave and then fasten it to each rafter tail with 1 1/4 inch decking screws. Fasten the sheathing to the rafters with 2.5 inch nails spaced 10 inches apart. Secure the bottom of the wall to the floor by driving 4 inch long structural screws through the bottom plate and into the rim joist below.
