Drill pilot holes through the plate and insert 3 1/2″ screws to secure the studs. The first step is cut nine 2’6 lumbers to 15′-9″ length, and two 2’6 lumbers to 10’0″. Next, place the five 10′ 4’4 lumbers parallel to each other evenly apart.
Use glue or glue strip along the rake edge and drip edge. Cover the entire roofing area with roof underlayment or tar paper, this is a water-resistant barrier material to keep the wood structures dry. A 16’10 garden shed the advantage will require about 240SF to cover the entire roof area. The roof will require a total of 9 identical kingpost style trusses, installed 24″ O.C. There are also two cross bracing placed on both ends for added stability.

Continue the project by assembling the side wall with window for the 10’16 shed. Cut the components from 2’4 lumber, except for the headers for which you need to use 2’6 lumber. Mark the cut lines on the beams and then get the job done with a saw. Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components. Use 2’6 lumber and 1/2″ plywood for the double headers. Fit the double header into place tightly and leave no gaps between the components. Build a double header for the door from 2’4 lumber and 1/2″ plywood. This step by step diy project is about 10’16 gambrel shed plans.
After you’ve finished assembling the trusses, place them 24″ O.C. The 16’10 garden shed will require at least 9 trusses and 2 set of bracing on both ends. Use 3 1/2″ nails to secure each rafter from the underside of the plate. Attach the two set of cross bracing at midpoint of the end truss bays. Set the boards to the top of the shed, as shown in the diagram. Use 2 1/2″ screws to lock the purlins to the rafters.
Build the plain side wall of the shed from 2’4 lumber. Align the edges and make sure the corners are square. Alternatively, you could use framing nails and a framing gun. Place the studs every 24″, as s in the diagram, or every 16″ on center, if you want to add a little more support. Fit the 3/4″ plywood sheets to the floor frame and align the edges with attention. Leave no gaps between the sheets for a professional result.

Save a few bucks on buying seasoned wood by using this 10 cord shed. Use a spirit level to plumb the posts and then fit the top beam, as show in the diagram. Use metal connectors to secure the beam to the top of the posts. Make the cuts to the sheets, as shown in the diagram. Align the edges flush and insert 1 5/8″ screws, every 8″ along the framing. Frame the other side wall for the gambrel shed using 2’4 lumber for the plates and studs.
Fit the trusses to the top of the barn shed frame, every 24″ on center. Plumb the trusses with a spirit level and then lock them into place with rafter ties.
